Team Mambo announces the Mambo CMS 4.5.3 Holiday patch release (nominated “4.5.3h”). The patch is available now for download in a variety of formats at MamboForge.Net.

Note that this is not a security-related patch, but rather is designed to address some of the issues that have arisen with the recent releases of related software, specifically MySQL5 and Firefox1.5. That means users need only upgrade to this patch if they are experiencing difficulties with their present installation of 4.5.3. Users who are not experiencing any issues with their present 4.5.3 installation may choose not to install this patch (though you may wish to do so for the minor enhancements and bug fixes described, below).

Here’s a list of what's new in Mambo 4.5.3h:

1. Improved compatibility with MySQL v.5.
2. TinyMCE update from 1.45 to 2.0.1 to fix issues with newer browsers, including Firefox 1.5. (Safari support is experimental and Opera is not supported.)
3. System Information link added to the Admin interface.
4. Bug Fixes: For details on other additions and bug fixes not listed here, please check the changelog.php file that is included with the distribution.

We will be removing the 4.5.3 download and replacing it with a 4.5.3h full install file. We will also be removing the 4.5.2.3 to 4.5.3 patch and replacing it with the 4.5.2.3 to 4.5.3h patch. Patches will be available to bring users from 4.5.2.3 & 4.5.3 to 4.5.3h.
