Mambo 4.5.3 On the Way... Print E-mail
  Saturday, 12 November 2005
Today, Team Mambo announced that the newest version of Mambo, version 4.5.3, will be released by the end of November this year.

4.5.3 represents the new Teams first consolidation of bug fixes and includes a number of security enhancements. It also includes a feature which allows for toggling the administration interface between two views: Simple and Advanced, the idea being to provide a less complicated interface for basic users and a more powerful administration interface for experienced webmasters; in essence matching the right tool to the right users, rather than presenting everyone with the same interface regardless of their needs. 4.5.3 will also include a new set of templates to give users a wider range of choices for deploying attractive and functional sites quickly.

4.5.3 is a small release, but a big milestone for the new core team, noted Core Dev Team leader Martin Brampton (aka Counterpoint). It fixes outstanding problems and ties up some security weaknesses. It changes the admin side UI to be more in line with Mambos hallmark power through simplicity. While the new team has no intention of dumbing down Mambo, we want to make Mambo both more powerful and more usable by people who haven't the time or the inclination to become expert webmasters.

Existing Mambo users will be advised to upgrade 4.5.3, in light of the security enhancements. The Team is making every effort to ensure that the enhancements and changes included in 4.5.3 do not cause any compatibility issues and will be working with third party developers to communicate to them the nature and extent of the planned changes. No major issues are anticipated.
